About the Dinos Tennis Society
Rudy Rocque - President

The Dinos Tennis Society is a non-profit Society whose primary purpose is to support the University of Calgary Tennis Team. The U of C Dinos tennis team dominated university tennis in Western Canada in the 1990’s, winning most matches against NCAA and NAIA schools in the Pacific Northwest. In the past decade or so, Dinos tennis has become less competitive for a number of management, financing and facilities reasons.

In 2012, a group of Calgary tennis afficionados (including tennis community organizers, senior national champs and ex-Dinos) formed the Dinos Tennis Society (DTS) to rejuvenate and improve Dinos tennis.
Our mission is to restore Calgary university tennis vitality. The Board of the DTS is committed to helping the team, both strategically and financially, to its ultimate goal of national contention.

As the case with most Canadian universities, tennis is not a varsity sport at U of C, but rather a club sport. Although there is some indirect administrative and governance oversight by the University, the team receives no management or financial support from the school. We hope to change that in the long term.
In the meantime, the Society raises funding for the U of C Dinos tennis team’s annual operating budget for facility rental, coaching, uniforms, tournament expenses and travel.
The Board and its Executive Director provide management and logistical support of the team.
